Commedia dell’arte is a form of Italian theater that flourished throughout Europe in the
16th-18th centuries. Many of the characters were portrayed by actors wearing masks, the most
recognizable of which is Arlecchino or Harlequin, the clown.
Punch is named after Pulcinella
Pulcinella, a tricky character who wears a long-nosed mask, is identified with Naples and
has a strong presence there even today. At Punch, we honor our namesake with Pulcinella masks
decorating our pizzerias.
Drink in the culture
If you’re going to be eating authentic Neapolitan pizza, complete with the buf moz and San Marzano
tomatoes, nothing completes the experience better than enjoying it with a simple Neapolitan red table
wine or cold Moretti. In Naples, that’s tradition.
Tchotchkes & Nicknacks
The ceramic masks and carved horns hanging in our pizzerias are more than just decoration,
they're Neapolitan good luck charms. We buy these pieces from craftsmen in Spaccanapoli (Old Naples).
Sweet Serenade - Renzo Arbore
Renzo Arbore is an Italian crooner (we like to think of him as the Frank Sinatra of Naples).
We play classic Neapolitan music at each of our pizzerias, and Renzo is one of our favorites.
